What a medical second opinion is, and what it is not
A medical second opinion is an independent review of a diagnosis or a proposed treatment by a specialist who was not involved in the first. The specialist reads your reports, images and laboratory results and states whether the diagnosis is confirmed or should be revised, and which treatment path is recommended. Through the membership, that specialist comes from a network of doctors affiliated with the world’s leading medical institutions, such as Harvard or Yale University.
It is not a replacement for your treating doctor, and it is not a treatment. It is a decision aid, obtained before an operation, before a course of therapy, or when two doctors have told you two different things. Veltracon Medical arranges and coordinates the review; it does not give one. We are not a healthcare provider, and the specialists in the network operate independently.

How a case runs
A review is only as good as the file behind it.
- The questionYou tell us what has been diagnosed, what has been proposed and what you want to know: is this the right diagnosis, and is this the right next step.
- The recordsWe help you assemble the reports, images and laboratory results from your treating doctors and hospitals and prepare the file for the specialist.
- The specialistWe place the case with a specialist in the relevant field from the network, affiliated with an institution known for its research and clinical results, such as Harvard or Yale.
- The opinionThe specialist reviews the file, may ask for further examinations, confirms or revises the diagnosis and recommends a treatment path. We go through the result with you.
- What followsIf treatment is recommended, we arrange it: in Switzerland through concierge medicine and our preferred access to private clinics, abroad through the global network. If you are abroad and the treatment is elsewhere, the hotline organises the medical repatriation.
For which diagnoses, and for whom
An independent opinion can be sought for any diagnosis and any proposed treatment: an oncological finding, a cardiac or neurological diagnosis, an orthopaedic operation, the reading of an MRI, a biopsy, or a rare condition for which few specialists exist. It can be obtained from the records or, where an examination is needed, combined with one in Switzerland.
It is for members facing a decision with consequences, for parents who want a child’s diagnosis checked, and for members whose treating doctors disagree.
Coordinated from Zug, across time zones
The coordination runs from Zug, so that records from a hospital in Asia and a specialist in the United States can be brought together. The coordinators are multilingual.
The network behind the opinion is the same one that carries our private doctor service and longevity medicine: Swiss private clinics and specialists since 2005, and the global network of preferred medical experts. For clinic treatment in Switzerland afterwards, our sister company Switzerland Clinics presents the clinics we work with.
How the work is paid for
The service is part of the Holistic membership and of the Longevity membership, not of Emergency. Veltracon Medical is an annual membership with an onboarding fee; the three memberships build on each other.
The membership pays for the coordination: preparing the file, placing the case and going through the result with you. Further examinations or treatment that follow a service proposal are not included in the membership and are charged by the provider. Membership does not substitute for comprehensive health insurance.

When should I get a second medical opinion?
Before an operation, before a course of therapy, when a diagnosis is serious or rare, when two doctors disagree, or when the proposed treatment has consequences you want to be sure about.
Who gives the medical second opinion?
Specialist doctors affiliated with top-tier medical institutions renowned for their research, innovative therapies and clinical results, such as Harvard and Yale University. Veltracon Medical places the case and coordinates; the specialist gives the opinion independently.
Can I get a second medical opinion online?
Yes. An opinion can be given from the records, which we help you assemble and prepare. Where an examination is needed, we arrange it, in Switzerland or through the global network.
How long does a second medical opinion take?
It depends on the specialty and on how complete the records are; there is no fixed turnaround. Ask us about the timing of your case before it is placed.
Can a diagnosis made abroad be reviewed through Veltracon Medical?
Yes. The specialist reviews the records wherever the diagnosis was made; the coordinators bring records from one country and a specialist in another together. If treatment in Switzerland follows, we arrange it.
What if the second medical opinion differs from the first?
Then you have two views. If you decide to change course, we arrange the treatment in Switzerland or abroad. The decision remains yours and your treating doctor’s.
Is a second medical opinion a treatment?
No. It is an independent review and a recommendation. Veltracon Medical is not a healthcare provider; treatment is provided by the clinics and doctors in the network.
